The Boys Brigade Mission Statement:
The Boys' Brigade will care for and challenge young people for life through a programme of informal education underpinned by the Christian faith.
Our BB Company is 14th Southport Company and has three sections
Anchor Section 5 to 8 years
The Anchor Section has lots of fun doing different activities which include making things, crafts, music, games, sports, stories, going on visits, marching, making friends, and working towards their badges.
All of this is done as part of a balanced programme that is separated into 5 different zones . . .
- Body - fit for fun
- Mind - think and do
- Spirit - God and me
- Community - me and my world
- Creativity - make and do
Everything a child in the Anchor Section does helps them to develop and to think for themselves, in a safe environment.
- Junior Section 8 to 11 years
Juniors is about . . .
- having fun
- making friends
- enjoying lots of activities
- trying new things
Through the many different activities, Juniors will . . .
- learn about themselves
- get to know people and learn to work together
- explore their community
- personally develop
Like the Anchors, Juniors also participate in crafts, games, sports, marching and badge work, however at this age the boys also have the opportunity to participate in BB Batallion events against boys from other companies. These include:
Cross Country Competition
Swimming Gala
Bible Reading Competition
Indoor Sports
5-a-side Football
Arts and Crafts Competition
- Company Section 11 to 15 years
Boys in the Company Section take part in the Discover programme, that enables you to . . .
- Take part in a a fun, balanced and challenging programme
- Be recognised for your effort and achievement
- Build trusting relationships
It's all about learning new skills, making your own decisions and having fun. BB provides a safe environment to explore new possibilities and achieve personal goals while making friends and having adventures. Within Discover there are 3 programme zones as follows:
- Community
- Recreation
- Skills
All sections are on Wednesday nights - Anchors/Juniors from 6.00-7.30pm and Company 7.45-9.00pm
