The Church of St John, Ainsdale
The Parish Church of Ainsdale, in the Diocese of Liverpool, Church of England
The database system would normally be accessed at address http://www.stjohnsainsdale.org.uk/events.htm.
Users who go to the above address will see, by default, any events in the system occuring in the next 7 days. By changing the dates at the top of the page and clicking 'Go' this can be expanded to any date range.
Just above the boxes for setting the date range is a 'Login' link where event organisers can log into the system. This will take you to a form where you should enter your login name and password and click 'Submit'. If successful you will see a list of the groups of which you are a member, click on the 'Go to Events list' link to return to the main page. If the group for which you want to add/edit an event is not on the list then you should send an email to eventadmin@stjohnsainsdale.org.uk to request that the group be added to your account. Likewise, you should send an email to the above address to request a login name.
Once logged in the text above the date boxes will change to show your login name, a link to log out, a link to change you password and a link to create a new event entry. If any events organised by one of your groups is displayed in the group then an 'Edit' link will appear below each event.
On the main event list page click on the 'Add a new event' link. You should now see a mainly blank form. Most of the fields should be self explanatory. The start and end times should be entered in 24-hour format. It is important to set the 'Group' menu box to the correct value so that other members of that group can edit it if required. When you are happy with the entry click on the 'Enter' button.
Clicking on the Edit link under an event will take you to the same form as creating a new event entry only this time the form will be pre-populated by the selected event's information. Change the incorrect fields and then click on the 'Enter' button.
You can set flags on events to mark them as Cancelled or Deleted. If marked as Cancelled an event will still appear in the list but will have the word 'CANCELLED' in red underneath the date. If marked as Deleted the event will not appear in the list. Deleted events can only be restored by the system admin (eventadmin@stjohnsainsdale.org.uk) and then only if the event has not been 'tidied up' out of the database.
If you find a problem that is not listed on this page please let me know by emailing eventadmin@stjohnsainsdale.org.uk
