Messy Church!

Messy Church

Just A Sample Image

Messy Church is church as you’ve never seen it before – glue, glitter and God! Messy Church is about families coming together to learn about God in a fun, active, crafty and messy way.

At St. John’s we hold Messy Church about every 6-8 weeks on a Saturday afternoon from 4.00 - 6.00pm.

Each time we have a theme which we explore through nine or ten different craft activities, maybe making something to take home with you, or creating a group piece of art, or making something to eat later, usually there is at least one very messy activity – that’s usually where you’ll find our Vicar, Graham!

Messy Church Dates

  • 18th March
  • 20th May
  • 15th July
  • 16th September
  • 18th November

We spend an hour doing the crafts in whichever order you and your children want to complete them. Then we tidy up and enjoy 20 minutes of loud and busy singing, stories and prayers.

At the end of our time of worship we all pitch in to move tables and chairs so that we can enjoy the food prepared by our hardworking team.

Families sit together with friends old and new to enjoy tea together provided by our Messy Kitchen team.

At six o’clock it’s time to collect all your crafts and start to make your way home – asking the “When is the next one?”

We are always keen to welcome new families to Messy Church, so if you’ve not been before come along and join the fun.

There is no charge, but we do have a collection bucket for any donations you feel you would like to give towards future Messy Church events.
