The Church of St John, Ainsdale
The Parish Church of Ainsdale, in the Diocese of Liverpool, Church of England
St John's church building was built in 1881 and hasn't changed
much on the outside, except the removal of an unsafe belltower. The porch,
where the tour goes next, was added just after the war. It is seen here
during the 2001 Summer Fayre. Click on any of the thumbnails on this page
to see an enlarged version.
Floodlighting for the front (west end, see the picture to
the right) of the church was added in time for the year 2000.
The borders in the garden in front of the church (see left) are maintained
by our uniformed organisations. Click on one of the links below to see
their certificates:
17 Southport Girl Guides and Brownies
15 Southport Brownies and 14 Southport
Boys Brigade
At the same time as the west end was floodlit the bell that had been in storage since the old bell tower was removed was brought out and set in concrete in front of the stone commemorating the building of the church.
The Remembrance Garden, where we carry out interment of ashes, is on the north side of the church.
